Sex Workers Project

Young female sex workers are more likely to experience Gender Based Violence (GBV), rape, arrests and STI infections. The structural violence experienced by sex workers commonly begins at an early age and persists into adulthood with high levels of frequency. Violence perpetrated by clients, law enforcement agents, and pimps or partners is a common occurrence.

The organization blends rights based strategy of peer education and linking related service programs for the prevention, care, and treatment of HIV and STIs including Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) services for our members. These need to be developed (and existing programs need to be tailored) to reach and address the particular needs of these Most at Risk Populations (MARPs) effectively.

As members of society, SWs must have access to the same health care services as other members of society, in accordance with their rights as human beings. For these programs to be effective program management planning and implementation must be a participatory process—that is, SWs must be involved.
