YOUTH HELPLINE

The Youth Helpline targets young people aged 10-35 years in line with the Zimbabwe Youth Council provisions and policies of the government. It will provide young people with information on issues and services relevant to them.

This peer support strategy will foster holistic youth empowerment regardless of geographical locations, race, communities, HIV status, gender, school leavers, children living and working in the streets, orphans and vulnerable children, young couples or any other.

The young people have options of vising our regional volunteer callers, chat live our website, Whatsapp, Facebook page, twitter or Blog and calling in on toll free, call or send call me back messages; raise their issues on and trained personnel will respond accordingly.

All advisors and counsellors must be trained or be reliable personnel in youth related issues, volunteering their time to answer calls and administer the social sites.

This is a phone call, texts and social media platform for young people to access critical services in all sectors including careers, entrepreneurship opportunities, scholarships, HIV/AIDS and general information dissemination on any critical issues affecting the youth in Zimbabwe.

The Initiative’s aim is to make readily available all information that contributes to the development of young people bridging a gap of fragmented information on critical youth services including information. Peers are trained in basic counseling and offer basic advice and referrals.

Since inception, the project has reached over 22800 people through calls and 12 220 sms and social sites. It also had a radio programme and weekly newspaper page in the Sunday Mail.
